Notably, there has been a 2.75x increase in human-operated ransomware encounters, while identity-related attacks have surged, with over 99% of daily identity attacks being password-based.

In response to increasing cyber threats, Microsoft has reassigned approximately 34,000 full-time engineers to focus on security initiatives. This includes developing phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication and strengthening corporate networks. Additionally, Microsoft leverages 78 trillion security signals daily to inform its cybersecurity strategies.

AI is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape by introducing new risks, such as AI-enabled spear phishing and deepfakes. However, it also enhances defense capabilities, improving threat detection and incident response. The report emphasizes the importance of collaboration among governments and industries to establish standards for the responsible use of AI in mitigating these risks.
